Cookie policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. "Local storage" is a similar browser feature that keeps information on your device. This page lists what Spiceistry uses.
Local storage (on your device only)
These make the site's tools work and never leave your device:
- Saved recipes and shopping list: the recipes you save and the items you add to your list.
- Meal plan and pantry: your weekly plan, school-lunch plan and the ingredients you ticked in "What can I cook".
- Prices: the prices you enter in the cost calculator.
- Recipe progress: ticked ingredients and steps, and your serving size.
The site also keeps a copy of pages and pictures in your browser's cache so recipes you have opened work offline.
Analytics cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are popular. It sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_<ID>, which last up to two years and let Analytics recognise a returning browser. In the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland these cookies are off unless you consent. See our privacy policy for details and how to opt out.
Advertising cookies
We don't show ads yet, so no advertising cookies are set. If we add Google AdSense in future, Google and its partners will use cookies to show and measure ads, and visitors in the EEA, UK and Switzerland will be asked for consent first. This page will be updated when that happens.
How to control cookies
- Delete cookies and site data in your browser's settings (look for "Privacy" or "Site data").
- Block third-party or all cookies in your browser settings. The recipes will still work; saved items may not be kept.
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
